Back despite public demand, it's ModernMan!  That's right, folks.  Modern Man (David Buskin, George Wurzbach and Rob Carlson) rides again.  They are performing together again in 2014 and one of their first appearances was our 1st Anniversary Showcase.

We would like to thank those who came out to see Modern Man on January 12.  It was our most successful showcase to date.  And, we would like to apologize to those whose experience was disappointing, due to the lack of available seating or the location of their seats.  It became clear that the reservation process used was not adequate for an audience as large at we had that night.  We plan to work with the restaurant to improve the reservation process to eliminate the seating problems we encountered. rule600.gif

A cross between Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Marx Brothers - David Buskin, Rob Carlson and George Wurzbach are three celebrated singers and songwriters, "terrific instrumentalists with gorgeous voices and hilarious wits."  Together they have been fast redefining something-or-other and delighting audiences as they interweave themes ranging from God to Godzilla, from manliness to cluelessness, from ESPN to the FBI with a vocal blend that has not been heard since Ella and F. Scott Fitzgerald went their separate ways.

Folk fans will no doubt know David Buskin from Buskin and Batteau, (he is Buskin) and from his songs recorded by such artists as Judy Collins, Johnny Mathis, Roberta Flack, Peter Paul & Mary, Tom Rush, Pat Benatar and Sadao Watanabe.  His "jingles" for Coca Cola, J.C. Penny, Stauffer's, Goodyear, Burger King, NBC, US Air, AmTrak, Continental Airlines, Jif and the US Postal Service have won him advertising's Oscar, a "Clio."

Rob Carlson is a writer, producer and comedian.  He has been a regular contributor to "The American Comedy Network", a national syndicator of radio comedy.  Rob was almost famous for fifteen minutes as half of "Carlson and Gailmor."  Their debut album Peaceable Kingdom, was a critical and commercial success.  However, Gailmor took off to Europe with his girlfriend before a second album could be done, leaving Rob the broken and bitter man he is today.  Rob also currently performs with Paul Payton and Vince Pasternak, as Rob Carlson and Benefit Street.

Brooklyn's George Wurzbach is "The best thing that ever happened to David and Rob" - Arthur Schlesinger, Jr.  An award winning composer, performer and producer, Wurzbach's songs and arrangements have been performed by Johnny Cash, Kathy Mattea, Roy Clark and a whole bunch of guys nobody's ever heard of.  His music has a sort of 'attitude'.  A uniqueness that is reflected in the number of artist songwriters who have recorded them including, Tom Paxton, The Kingston Trio, David Wilcox, David Buskin, Bob Malone, Hot Soup, Seamus Kennedy, and many others.  His recent work with Paxton was featured on the 2009 Grammy nominated album, Comedians and Angels.

Over the years audiences up and down the East Coast and in such far-flung outposts of civilization as Ohio, Florida and Texas, found them a delightful change of pace.  As Showbusiness Weekly put it: "Buskin, Carlson and Wurzbach should be arrested for being so funny."  Or as Back Stage put it, "...these guys are the Thomas Alva Edisons of humor.  They're inventive.  You know, the bulb goes on."  Don't miss MODERN MAN, because like Christine Lavin said, "You'll love these guys; they are the cleverest band of the new millennium."
