Jeff Cannon

Rich, warm vocals, memorable melodies, incisive lyrics, a thoughtful and beguiling performer: these are some of the things being written about Bloomington, Indiana-based singer-songwriter Jeff Cannon, one of the brightest and busiest voices to have come out of the talent-rich Boston acoustic music scene.

Since picking up a guitar 4 years ago, Jeff has recorded and released several cassettes and his debut CD True, received unusual amounts of airplay on all of the Boston acoustic music radio stations including numerous on-air interview segments, been a headline performer at all of the top Boston area acoustic music venues, was a winner in the 1994 Rhode Island songwriters competition, was a two-time finalist in the Boston Acoustic Underground competition, handled the booking at one venue (the Kendall Cafe), was a key member of the team that saved and managed the landmark Club Passim in Harvard Square, was the host of two high profile open mic nights, spent hundreds of hours street performing on the streets and in the subways of Boston and Cambridge, performed on several TV programs, was the subject of numerous Boston area print articles, has been featured on 2 compilation CD's, and since leaving Boston in the fall of 1996 has logged over 75,000 car miles touring the nation's coffeehouses and folk venues without stopping. His next CD is currently in pre-production and is scheduled for release in early summer.

In a short time, Jeff has developed into a gifted performer and community leader who is equally dedicated to the foundation of the oral tradition as he is to his own artistry. In the soloistic world of singer- songwriters, Jeff is a breath of fresh air. His openness and desire to give enrichment for others' benefit has been ever-present through all of the phases of his involvement with music.

Jeff's debut CD True sold out of its initial pressing through stage (and street) sales, and continues to receive regular airplay in Boston's folk stations. The supporting musicians and singers include Barbara Kessler, Greg Greenway, Patty Griffin, and Johnny Cunningham.

Jeff's performances are at once polished and warm. Whether performing with a full band, piano accompaniment, or solo acoustic, this is a leader of the pack in a new breed of acoustic performers who combines meaning, music, and goot time entertainment. Don't miss him!
