Louis Taylor

Picture of Louise Taylor

Louise Taylor hails from the dark hills and sun-splashed fields of Vermont, a state known for breeding a sense of rugged independence and feisty self-reliance. Louise received a guitar for her 12th birthday, and quickly became a self-taught guitarist and songwriter. She left home at 16, wandering from Cape Cod to the Florida keys, California to Texas soaking up both life and musical experience. For a while Taylor settled in Texas and tried her hand at country music but soon was wandering again, this time to Europe. She returned to Vermont with a new sense of purpose, found the perfect guitar and married its maker, luthier Micheal Millard.

The years of experience on the road have helped Louise Taylor create a unique musical vocabulary, featuring her sultry and passionate voice, rhythmic, percussive guitar stylings and powerful, poetic songs.

A self-produced debut album Looking For Rivers was released in 1992, receiving a surprising amount of attention for a do-it-yourself disc. Glowing reviews from the likes of Performing Songwriter and Dirty Linen helped spread the word, and Louise began to tour extensively, building an especially strong following in the Northeast.

Her new release Ruby Shoes is proof that after a long musical journey, Louise Taylor has blossomed into one of our most exciting performers.
