Christine Lavin

began her set with a little political satire in the Tom Paxton tradition, singing a song she wrote called Better Than What We Have Now. She followed that with another of her songs, Katy Says Today is the Best Day of My Whole Entire Life.

The highlight of the first half came when Christine invited back on stage to help lead the audience in singing Tom's Peace Will Come. With Sean leading the men and Doris leading the women, they were soon joined on stage by all of the performers to pay tribute to Tom. The first half of the show ended with the entire audience standing and facing Tom for a standing ovation.
