Art Renkwitz

As a child, Art Renkwitz was subjected to hours of Dionne Warwick and The Jackie Gleason Orchestra by his parents. Needless to say, it is to them he primarily attributes his gritty folk/country sound. From 1991 to 1995 Art played the Baltimore bar and coffeehouse circuit in two acoustic duos, Blue Plate Special and New Deal. He also played Ocean City, Maryland for two summers, which should considerably shorten his time in purgatory.

Art now plays solo, or with Tad Marks (former sideman for bluegrass heavyweights Lynn Morris and Del McCoury) on fiddle. His powerful vocals and melodic, story-driven songs are reminiscent of Steve Earle and other roots and insurgent country artists. Art's tunes are sure to keep you company on the way home.

Note: This information was posted to the web site when Art appeared at our showcase in February, 1998.
