Morgan Rowe

Morgan Rowe grew up on the drums, graduating from trap set practice at the end of the driveway to performing with a local band. But when she turned to the acoustic guitar in the early nineties, Morgan discovered her natural ease with music and passion for song writing. Morgan's subjects are often intense and personal, though her lyrics have a broad appeal. Audiences are captivated by her story telling and find reflections of themselves in her songs. "Horizon", for example, combines real-life events from Morgan's years in Coast Guard Search and Rescue, spinning tales of crews lost at sea, heroic and failed efforts to bring them home, the daunting power of nature and a lingering sense of loss. Morgan's influences are diverse, from the more traditional folk and country (Emmylou Harris, Dar Williams and Nanci Griffith) to contemporary alternative bands (Better than Ezra and Toad the Wet Sprocket). She invests cover renditions of the likes of Sinead O'Connor and Kristen Hall with the same energy and enthusiasm that mark her own songs; and the variety and playfulness of her set-lists keep audiences attuned and loyal. Morgan plays mostly originals, regularly working new songs into the fold. Fans turn out again and again to hear and share in her music. "The lyrics are powerful and personal." -Mike Grebb, Live Music Previews - SCENE Magazine
